Scott E. Buchalter, MD, UAB Health System vice president of business development and strategy, has appointed Marilyn M. Henry, RN, MSN, as director of the Cardiovascular Service Line.
For the past 10 years Henry has been a UAB Hospital associate vice president, with responsibilities that included Cardiovascular Services, Radiology, Radiation Oncology, the Bone Marrow Transplant Program, and Biomedical and Clinical Engineering. She previously was the hospital’s cardiology administrative director.
Henry began her health care career as a registered nurse in 1975 and spent the first 15 years in nursing management at Baptist Medical Center, Princeton.
She holds a BS in nursing from Samford University and an MSN from the UAB School of Nursing. She is chair-elect of the American Academy of Medical Administrators and the past president of the American College of Cardiovascular Administrators. She also is president of the Alabama Kidney Foundation.
To develop the cardiovascular strategic service line plan, Henry will work closely with Robert C. Bourge, MD, director, Division of Cardiovascular Disease; William D. Jordan Jr, MD, chief, Section of Vascular Surgery and Endovascular Therapy; James K. Kirklin, MD, director, Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery; and the cardiovascular management team.
“We will work together, along with Marketing Communications, Physician Services, and Media Relations to put into place the strategic initiatives needed to support the Health System’s goals of growth, operational improvements, and improved quality and satisfaction,” she says.
