Erica L. Liebelt, MD, professor of pediatrics and emergency medicine, has completed an Executive Fellowship in Patient Safety at the Williamson Healthcare Institute for Leadership, located at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond.
The 1-year fellowship is the first formal patient safety program in the country for professionals. The curriculum includes a broad range of patient safety topics.
Dr. Liebelt’s fellowship project, “The Safe Use of Vancomycin at The Children’s Hospital of Alabama: The SUV Program,” was selected for presentation in Richmond at the ninth annual Virginians Improving Patient Care and Safety Conference.
Dr. Liebelt is involved in many patient safety initiatives at Children’s Hospital, primarily focusing on medication safety issues.
