UAB School of Nursing Dean Doreen C. Harper, PhD, RN, FAAN, has been elected to the American Academy of Nursing (AAN) board of directors.
The 10-member board oversees financial management and provides direction for AAN strategic planning.
Prior to joining UAB as dean in 2005, Dr. Harper was dean of the University of Massachusetts Worcester Graduate School of Nursing.
She earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Cornell University, a master’s degree from Catholic University in Washington, DC, and a doctorate from the University of Maryland.
At UAB Dr. Harper directs the World Health Organization Collaborating Center for International Nursing.
