Jenkins Directs Division of Women's Reproductive Health Care

Dr. JenkinsUAB Professor and Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology John C. Hauth, MD, announces the appointment of Todd R. Jenkins, MD, as associate professor of obstetrics and gynecology. Dr. Jenkins directs nine OB/GYN specialists in the department’s Division of Women’s Reproductive Health Care.

His clinical and research interests include hysteroscopic and laparoscopic surgery, robotic surgery, general gynecology, and the instruction of medical students, residents, and practicing physicians in minimally invasive gynecology.

A graduate of UAB School of Medicine, Dr. Jenkins completed an internship at University of Cincinnati Hospital and a residency at UAB in obstetrics and gynecology. He initially practiced as a member of the Primecare Group at The Kirklin Clinic® (TKC) before accepting a position at the University of California, Irvine (UCI).

While on the UCI faculty Dr. Jenkins served as director of women’s ambulatory care for the UCI Family Health System.

In 2002 he joined the OB/GYN division at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, North Carolina, where he served as director of ambulatory services and director of the gynecology division.

Dr. Jenkins, who sees patients at TKC, returns to UAB after completing an American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists and Society of Reproductive Surgeons fellowship in gynecologic endoscopy with world-renowned laparoscopist C. Y. Liu, MD, at the Chattanooga Women’s Laser Center.

Dr. Jenkins is a reviewer for the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Journal of Reproductive Medicine, and Journal of Minimally Invasive Gynecology. A lecturer and author of numerous publications, Dr. Jenkins is also an examiner for the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
