In August 2005, the UAB Health System entered into a management agreement with HealthSouth Medical Center and assumed full ownership on April 1, 2006, changing its name to UAB Highlands

Baptist Health - In March 2004, UAB entered into a management agreement to oversee Baptist Health in Montgomery, Alabama. On July 1, 2005, Baptist Health became an affiliate of the UAB Health System under a Health Care Authority. Baptist Health includes 689 licensed beds in three hospitals -Baptist Medical Center South, Baptist Medical Center East and Prattville Baptist Hospital

Callahan Eye Foundation Hospital - offers the latest ophthalmic microsurgery, corneal transplantation, and an emergency department dedicated to treating trauma to the eye

Medical West - a community hospital with 300 bed acute care rovideing quality health care to west Jefferson County. On January 1, 2006, Medical West became an affiliate of the UAB Health System under a Health Care Authority

The University of Alabama School of Medicine - nationally recognized program ranked 27th in NIH funding with clinical programs in Birmingham, Huntsville, Tuscaloosa, Selma and Montgomery
