UAB will bring a new Web-based hiring and internal transfer system online Monday, Dec.18.
Known as BrassRing, the new Human Resource Management hiring and applicant tracking management system will enable job candidates – both internal and external – to complete online applications for positions throughout the university’s academic and health-care operations, both through www.uab.edu and www.uabhealth.org.
“Part of what this change means is that as of Dec. 18, all applicants who apply or have applied for jobs during the June 15-Dec. 15 time period this year – whether with the university’s academic or health-care operations – will be required to resubmit their information using the new system,” said Mike Mathews, manager of employment. “This includes all applicants for internal transfer.
“We think people will find this new process quicker and much easier than sending in their paperwork via fax, mail or e-mail, and we look forward to providing it as a service to all job candidates,” Mathews said.
Complete instructions for the online application process will be posted on UAB’s employment Web sites once the new system is in place later this month. Once they are posted, internal transfer candidates should pay special attention to the directions on how to apply for a transfer within UAB, as the online forms to use for that process will be different from those to be used by external candidates.
Job candidates without easy access to a computer may use one of the UAB Employment Office computer kiosks on the first floor of the Administration Building at 701 20th Street S. to apply for academic operations positions. Those applying for health-care operations positions may use one of the UAB Hospital Human Resources computer kiosks on the first floor of the Liberty National Building at 301 20th Street S. Candidates can request assistance with using the computers and the new system at each location.
UAB Chief Human Resources Officer Cheryl Locke said the positive changes that will come with BrassRing will result in reduced costs and more efficient recruitment and hiring processes, and a refined applicant tracking system that will support UAB’s compliance efforts. It will also help ensure that UAB remains an employer of choice for top-qualified candidates, Locke said.
“The new system will enable us to better market UAB to both our internal transfer and external applicants, and to communicate with them in an even more timely fashion,” she said.
