There are three types of ovarian tumors: epithelial cell, germ cell, and stromal cell.
The cause of ovarian cancer is not yet known. An estimated 22,430 new cases of ovarian cancer are expected in the US in 2007. Ovarian cancer accounts for nearly 4 percent of all cancers among women and ranks second among gynecologic cancers.
