The Division of Geographic Medicine staffs the UAB Travelers Health Clinic, providing consultations 24 hours a day for outpatients and inpatients with possible tropical or parasitic diseases.
Clinical services:
- provides up-to-date pre-travel medical preparation
- malaria chemoprophylaxis when indicated
- medication for self-treatment of travelers diarrhea
- detailed educational materials on staying healthy abroad
- 24 hr. on-call service for patients who become ill during after travel
- a full parasitology laboratory
- all immunizations recommended by the Centers for Disease
Control and World Health Organization
UAB Travel / Tropical Medicine Clinic, the largest clinic of its kind in Alabama, includes specialists with the training and experience to treat exotic diseases. The clinic is located on fourth floor of The Kirklin Clinic, pictured at right.
