Our convenient, comfortable facilities have centralized patient care areas. Each patient care area has faculty and/or nurse practitioners assisted by LPNs and nursing assistants. We offer free parking located next to the building, an on-site pharmacy, on-site lab and x-ray, and we are fully equipped with handicapped facilities. It is our policy to file insurance claims with Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Medicare, Medicaid, UAB VIVA, and VIVA Health, as well as most other insurances. When you call 934-9700 for an appointment, the appointment clerk will verify your coverage.
The UAB Family Practice Center includes both male and female faculty/nurse practitioners. Our physicians emphasize a holistic family approach of comprehensive care which encompasses general medicine, pediatrics, gynecology, minor surgery and psychiatric services. We offer services to address your basic health care needs, such as physical examinations and diagnostic screenings. If you have a unique problem that requires a specialist, we will be happy to refer you to one and coordinate your care with them.
Specialized services available at the Family Practice Center include: EKGs; lab; x-ray; breathing treatments; mole & wart removal; strains & sprains; breast exams and pap smears; well-baby care and immunizations.
The UAB Family Practice Center is located at 930 South 20 Street in the Community Health Services Building-20th Street. Office hours are from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, except holidays. In case of an AFTER-HOUR EMERGENCY, a 24-hour telephone service is available by calling the emergency paging number at 934-3411. Ask for the Family Practice Center physician/nurse practitioner on call.
