Patient Preparation

CCT: Baby and Chris

We understand that often times caring for critically ill patients can be challenging. To facilitate the transport of the patient, we ask that you assist with the following prior to the team's arrival:

1. Make a copy of the patient's chart and all pertinent x-rays for the team to take with them to the recieving medical facility.
2. Make sure the patient has patent I.V. access, preferably two I.V. sites; place extension sets or twinsites to tubing. Have all of the I.V. fluids in bags and not glass containers.
3. Have a family member available to sign for consent to transport/provide care for the patient while being transported if the patient is unable to give consent or the patient is a minor.
4. Communicate any major changes in the patient's condition to the team through the Critical Care Transport Coordinator.

Assisting us with these guidlines will assure a speedy and safe transport of the patient from one medical facility to another medical facility.
