If your company has a drug free workplace policy and requires post accident urine drug screens and or breath alcohol testing UAB is prepared to meet this need. UAB has contracted with EDPM for 24/7 on call coverage with trained certified collectors. Testing can be done almost anywhere in our facilities provided the patient is available for testing and is able to consent.

To request testing for inpatients or elsewhere in our facilities:
Make sure you know the location of your patient, confirm they will be available and able to consent to the test. You will also need to know who will be receiving the results and paying for the service. Contact EDPM directly at 205-326-3100 and request the test.
Important points to remember:
- Make your request as soon as possible to decrease wait time for on call collector to arrive.
- Know your employee's location and availability.
- If your employee is unable to consent testing can not be completed.
- EDPM will need to know your contact, authorization and billing information.
- EDPM will be reporting all results and providing MRO services for their collections.
- If you are utilizing our emergency rooms for after hours testing purposes only, per our policy, any patient reporting to our emergency departments must have a physician evaluation.
If your company has a provider for this service and you wish to use them you will need to contact them directly and make your request. They will be allowed access to your employee in our system provided they have a UAB vendor ID badge and adhere to our policy guidelines. For Walk in Collections:
The Workplace is open M-F 8-4:30 for walk in treatment. If it is not an emergency you may send your employee to the Workplace for evaluation and testing. Contact Mike Perley at 205-933-5300 for more information.
