The Specialty Residency in Oncology Pharmacy Practice is a new one-year program designed to provide the resident with expert-level competency in delivering comprehensive pharmacy services to cancer patients. The program is organized to provide extensive experience in both inpatient and ambulatory responsibilities.
ORIENTATION (4 Weeks)
Orientation provides a general overview of the departmental organization and support units and resident responsibilities.
REQUIRED ROTATIONS (30 Weeks)
To fulfill the qualifications for graduation, the resident is required to complete a major research project and the required training as outlined in the following schedule:
Medical Oncology
(8 Weeks)
Hematologic Malignancies (8 Weeks)
Ambulatory Care (1 Week Introduction + 1/2 Day Per Week)
Clinical Research (2 weeks)
Bone Marrow Transplantation (6 Weeks)
Hospice (1 Week)
Radiation Oncology (1 Week)
Gynecologic Oncology (1 Week)
Research/Project Time (2 Weeks)
ELECTIVE REROTATIONS (12 Weeks)
The resident may spend additional rotation time in any of the practice areas listed in the above section.
OTHER (6 Weeks)

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
The applicant must possess a Pharm.D. degree and have completed an ASHP-accredited pharmacy practice residency or have equivalent experience. He or she must submit a completed application, recommendations from two members of his or her pharmacy faculty and one other individual, and an official school transcript to the program director no later thatn January 31. A personal interview is required.
