UAHSF Management Services Organization (MSO)

The Management Services Organization (MSO) was established in 1999 by The University of Alabama Health Services Foundation, P.C. In that same year, the MSO successfully implemented IDX software, the predominant scheduling, registration, and billing system used by clinics of the nation’s largest and most prestigious academic health centers. The MSO provides the following services for the University of Alabama Health Services Foundation:

  • Centralized billing and collection of outpatient and inpatient professional fees, outpatient technical and facility fees.
  • Maintenance, development, and training for IDX patient management/financial system.
  • Monthly statistical reporting and decision support.
  • Verification of patient registration/insurance prior to appointment date for pre-scheduled appointments.
  • Patient financial clearance/counseling for the UAB Hospital and for most UAHSF clinics.
  • Internal consulting/management assistance through Clinic/Department Relations Managers.
  • Managed care support in relation to contract negotiations and contract compliance.
