Music Therapy

HS Gen Spr 01: Music Therapy
Music Therapy is an established healthcare profession that uses music to address physical, emotional, cognitive, and social needs of individuals of all ages. While music therapy activities are musical, the objectives being met are not. The music, instruments, and specific techniques are used as therapeutic tools to meet various rehabilitative goals. At SRC, board-certified music therapy staff facilitates weekly groups for patients. In addition to meeting rehabilitative goals through the use of music, music therapy addresses patients’ emotional needs as well by normalizing the hospital environment and providing opportunities for self-expression.
