The post anesthesia care unit, or PACU, is is an area attached to operating suites, and is designed to provide care for patients recovering from anesthesia, whether it be general, regional, or local anesthesia.The PACU staff, composed of highly trained nurses are charged with many vital tasks for the care of post-anaesthesia and post operative patients. These essential activities include: monitoring vital signs, treating post-operative symptoms, managing post-operative pain, maintaining a patient's airway, and giving emotional support and reassurance to the patiet. PACU is located on the third floor of the hospital.
